ArchivalResource

Rachel McKnight papers, 1823-1954.

Correspondence, copies of press releases and speeches, press passes, and other items related to McKnight, a journalist for the Hartford Times newspaper in Hartford, Connecticut. The correspondence is primarily personal in nature, several being about damage to her automobile. The speeches and press releases come from meetings of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Federated Women's Clubs, Republican Women's Club, or other organizations. A number of these speeches were from the years of World War II and touch on the war, public policy, and foreign affairs. Also part of the collection, but with an unknown relationship, are a folder of letters dating from 1823 to 1917, several addressed to a Mr. Dooley. In addition, there are pages from an insurance record that have been used as a scrapbook with articles about sports at Hartford Public High School. These latter items may be from another donor entirely and may relate to the Kilbourn family.

1.25 linear feet (1/2 box, 1 oversize folder).
